What does Duke of Ed involve?
They involve helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition and, for Gold only, working with a team on a residential activity. Any young person can do their DofE – regardless of ability, gender, background or location.
Is the Duke of Edinburgh Award a real thing?
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is the world’s leading youth achievement award, equipping young people for life. The Award is available for all young people aged 14 to 24, regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests.
How do you get the Duke of Edinburgh Award?
To become an Award Participant, young people must first register into the Award. However, you must be at the minimum age of 13 year and 6 months.

You need to upload evidence that you have completed each of your Physical, Skill and Volunteering Sections (school will do this for the Expedition) to eDofE and SUBMIT each of your Sections as complete. You should have followed two of these Sections for at least 3 months and the other for 6 months.
Can you do driving for Duke of Ed?
Driving can be used as a skill for any level of the Award (Bronze, Silver, Gold). If the participant has never driven or done any car maintenance they may class themselves as a ‘beginner driver ‘ regardless of their Award level.
Can you learn a language for DofE?
Did you know that you can study a language as part of your Duke of Edinburgh Award? You’re not allowed to count the study you are doing at school, but if you are having additional language lessons, or studying a new language outside school, it can count!
